This is a Permanent, contract of 40 hours per week, 52 weeks each year, from Mid August. The Position will be extended and opportunity for candidate to take on the Manager’s Role.

Responsibilities:

• To work with and support the Manager and the staff team to deliver a high-quality Preschool and Afterschool service to the children and families using KSH.
• To manage the day to day running of the preschool and Afterschool in the absence of the Manager, this may include responsibility for opening and closing the service
• To lead one of our preschool classrooms on a daily basis and work with others in the classroom to implement and evaluate a play-based curriculum that is appropriate to the whole group and each child’s individual needs & interests.
• To support, guide and mentor other staff members in the service including students, in the skills and behaviors that safeguard and promote good outcomes for children.
• Ensure the service is compliant with TUSLA regulations and DES standards (if applicable) and are ready for inspection at any time
• To lead practice and take charge of emergency evacuation and accident procedures in the absence of the manager.
• To work in partnership with parents as the primary care givers of their children.
• To support the manager with other tasks such as reviewing all policies and procedures when required, maintaining waiting lists for the service and recruiting staff.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum QQI / FETAC Level 7 (Level 8 desirable) in Early Childhood Education and be eligible to work full time in Ireland. All other qualifications must be recognised by the DCYA.
• Experience in a crèche supervisory/ management role.
• Experience of working with children from 1 years to 9 years.
• Additional qualifications such as Child Protection; First Aid and HACCP certification will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of NCS/Better Start/AIM/HACCP desirable
• Strong verbal, written and social communication skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Show flexibility in terms of hours of attendance, willing to work in line with services needs and work extra time or unsocial hour from time to time if required
• The successful candidate will be highly organised with an ability to work as part of a team
• Knowledge of TUSLA and Childcare regulations
